Overview

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has conducted several operations targeting irregular migration and related security concerns across different states.

In Osun State, the NIS arrested 55 irregular migrants from Cameroon and Congo who entered the country through unauthorized routes. Officials reported that the detainees were operating an unregistered online business known as ‘QNET’. The command confirmed that the individuals are being processed for repatriation.

In Adamawa State, immigration officers intercepted ₦34 million in cash suspected to be a kidnapping ransom, leading to the detention of two individuals. During separate operations in the Yola North Local Government Area, officers also discovered 17 irregular migrants from Cameroon and Chad residing in an unregistered private apartment. Authorities noted an emerging trend of undocumented migrants using private residences rather than hotels to evade detection.
