Nikon NIKKOR Z lens and firmware developments
Overview
Nikon has announced several expansions to its lens and camera ecosystem. The company introduced the Nikkor Z Cinema T1. 9 VV series, a collection of nine high-end cinema lenses designed to cover the RED V-Raptor [X] VV sensor and include precise autofocus mechanisms. Alongside this, Nikon confirmed that firmware version 2.00 for the Nikon ZR camera is expected by the end of 2026, which will add support for Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB in H.265 codec, as well as focus peaking for R3D NE format.
Further expanding the NIKKOR Z mount lineup, Nikon introduced new zoom options including the 28–400mm f/4–8 VR and the 180–600mm f/5.6–6.3 VR. The company also announced upcoming professional-grade lenses, such as the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II and a lighter 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II, which is expected to release in April 2026.
