Nirmeen Noufl manslaughter case

Overview

Nirmeen Noufl, 56, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the Supreme Court regarding the death of her husband, Mamdouh Noufl, in May 2023. Noufl had originally been charged with murder following investigations into the death of Mamdouh, who was reported missing in July 2025.

Police alleged that Noufl dismembered her husband’s body and disposed of the remains in plastic bags within various rubbish bins across south-west Sydney. Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty previously described the incident as a “domestic violence murder”.

In subsequent legal proceedings, Noufl pleaded guilty to killing her husband in circumstances of “excessive self-defence during an assault”. While her defense cited her fragility and remorse as a survivor of domestic violence, prosecutors raised questions regarding the timing and sincerity of her contrition. Noufl is awaiting sentencing.
