Niterói municipal education initiatives

In late July 2026 the municipality of Niterói continued to expand its public‑education programmes. On 25 July the city’s “Circuito da Cidade” programme, run by the Municipal Secretariat of Education in partnership with Neltur, used specially branded buses to take more than 15,000 students on cultural, historic and natural site visits, completing 350 trips and promoting familiarity with public spaces.

Five days later, on 30 July, the municipal education department reported a parallel infrastructure push, carrying out maintenance on 16 schools during the July recess. Renovations included roof replacements, structural reinforcements, bathroom upgrades, accessibility ramps, new cafeteria flooring and repainting, aimed at improving safety and comfort for students and staff.

Together, the snapshots show Niterói pursuing both experiential learning through citywide tours and physical upgrades of school facilities as part of its broader municipal education strategy.
