Niterói urban and economic development initiatives

Niterói is undergoing various urban and economic development initiatives. Niterói Rotativo introduced the ‘Conexão Niterói’ meeting to present programs such as ‘Programa Parceiro Amigo da Cidade’ and ‘Pacto Empresarial por Niterói’, which aim to support local commerce, inclusive hiring, and urban mobility.

Simultaneously, the ‘Reviver Centro’ program is working to revitalize the city’s central region through infrastructure improvements and economic development. Mayor Rodrigo Neves reported progress in the central district, noting significant rental appreciation and the establishment of thousands of new companies. Key projects include the creation of new squares, renovations on Avenida Amaral Peixoto, and the development of the Cantareira Innovation District as part of the long-term ‘Niterói Que Queremos’ strategic plan.

Recent developments within the Conexão Niterói framework have highlighted social welfare integration. The ‘Programa Recomeço’ has been identified as a central initiative for reintegrating people experiencing homelessness into the labor market. Maicon Carlos, the Subsecretary of Solidarity Economy in Niterói, reported that the program has already successfully placed more than 700 individuals into jobs. Diogo Mota, president of Niterói Rotativo, emphasized the necessity of connecting public policy with private sector opportunities to drive social transformation.
