Nordic datacenter and greenhouse development
Overview
The Varde Municipal Council has approved the planning basis for a major development in Krageris, north of Ølgod. Led by atNorth, a company owned by the Canadian Pension Plan and Equinix, the 25 billion DKK project will cover 174 hectares.
The development includes a 225,000 square meter datacenter and 475,000 square meters of greenhouses. To ensure resource efficiency, excess heat from the datacenter will be utilized to heat the greenhouses for year-round vegetable cultivation. Selected Group will manage the construction and operation of the greenhouse facility.
Mayor Sarah Andersen noted that the project is essential for rural development, aiming to encourage settlement and create new jobs. Construction is expected to reach completion by 2030.
