North Carolina shooting and multi-state manhunt
Overview
A shooting at a residence in Gastonia, North Carolina, resulted in the deaths of Victoria “Heather” Moore, 50, and Megan “Josiah” Bumgardner, 38. Two other individuals were transported to a medical center with critical injuries.
Following the incident, authorities identified Camryn Moore, 26, and Cory Armstrong, 29, as suspects. A multi-state manhunt involving the U.S. Marshals Service led law enforcement to Athens, Ohio, where a high-speed police pursuit occurred. The chase ended when the suspects' vehicle crashed after attempting to avoid spike strips.
Both Moore and Armstrong were found dead inside the wreckage. While investigators in North Carolina are looking into the possibility of a double suicide, Ohio authorities are still investigating the exact cause of death and whether gunshots were heard from within the vehicle during the crash.
