North Gyeongsang local development lobbying
Entities: Gu Yoon‑cheol · Gyeongbuk provincial government · Uiseong County · Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs · Seongju County
Overview
In late January, the association of council chairs from North Gyeongsang Province gathered in Cheongsong for its regular plenary. Twenty‑two city and county chairs, together with the Cheongsong mayor and senior officials, heard opening remarks urging tighter cooperation and a new phase of regional development. The meeting concluded with the election of a new chair, Ji Mu‑jin of Uiseong County, and a tour of the local ceramic museum.
A few weeks later, county heads from Seongju and Uiseong travelled to Seoul and the provincial capital to press higher‑level officials for budget support. They presented proposals for an industrial complex, a basic‑income scheme, agricultural upgrades, a forest‑investment hub, an air‑logistics zone and broader transport and tourism projects, stressing the need for persistent engagement to secure funding and policy backing.
