North Macedonia storm relief efforts

Overview

Following the July 21 2026 storm that damaged roofs and facades in Skopje, municipalities have rolled out relief measures. Kiselavoda opened a compensation commission on July 23, requiring claim forms, ID, ownership proof, photos and police reports within 30 days. On July 29, the Center municipality announced a one‑off cash grant of up to 100,000 denars for affected owners and legal entities; applications are accepted at the municipal archive on Mihail Cokov Street between 09:00 and 15:00 on working days, with a two‑month submission window, and will be evaluated by a seven‑member commission drawn from the council and administration. Mayor Goran Gerasimovski said a crisis staff was deployed immediately after the storm to coordinate cleanup, safety checks and the relief effort, and both municipalities are coordinating with the national government and the City of Skopje.

On August 2, Studeniçan municipality announced the creation of a damage‑assessment commission to document losses, particularly to agricultural assets such as greenhouses and crops. Mayor Ejup Abazi indicated the municipal budget will be examined for possible compensation and that the commission will forward reports to relevant ministries while seeking additional aid from central government agencies.
