In late July 2026, commentary from digital influencer Raul Sena highlighted the growing disconnect between Brazil’s traditional finance centre in São Paulo and the real economy, while data showed that assets managed by firms in the Northeast had risen to about R$55 billion, signalling the start of a diversification of the country’s financial sector.

A week later, the Powershoring Forum – a partnership of the Instituto Clima e Sociedade, Banco do Brasil and the Consórcio Nordeste – released a commitment to attract R$77 billion in low‑carbon, energy‑intensive industrial projects to the region by 2030. The plan leverages the Northeast’s strong renewable‑energy base (91 % of Brazil’s wind and 42 % of its solar capacity) and projects substantial economic benefits, including an annual R$58 billion boost to regional GDP, 350,000 jobs, and increased exports and tax revenue.
