Northern Cyprus migration and visa regulation updates

Overview

Northern Cyprus has introduced new migration management and security measures, including the Göç-Sis and E-Visa systems. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated these measures are intended to combat irregular migration and maintain public order.

Under the new regulations, citizens of Syria, Nigeria, and Armenia must use an online E-Visa system instead of the previous consular process. Fees for these visas range from $40 for single-entry to $120 for express multi-entry options. Applications are processed by the Department of Immigration, though officials maintain the right to deny entry at border crossings following interviews.

Stricter controls have also been applied to foreign students; university acceptance letters no longer guarantee entry, as institutions must now submit student documentation online for review by police and immigration authorities.

In a related development regarding Syrian travel, the Turkish Embassy in Damascus announced that Syrian citizens with valid visas from Turkish diplomatic missions are no longer restricted to air travel and may now use land border crossings.
