Kar-İş President Fuat Topaloğlu noted that permits for approximately 300 to 350 vehicles have expired, leaving current operations without legal standing. The unions also demand that afternoon transport be included in official contracts to guarantee payments and that the state, rather than transporters, assume responsibility for student escorts.

As the strike entered its second week, the UBP - DP Government failed to reach a resolution, causing significant traffic congestion and logistical challenges for families. However, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu recently announced that the government has accepted most demands to ensure sector sustainability, including a 40 percent increase in transportation fees.

The Minister noted that while a protocol for escorts has been prepared—offering payment equivalent to the gross minimum wage for five eight-hour days—a request for a 5 percent interest rate on delayed payments was rejected as inconsistent with state practices. Although the Ministry stated it is ready to sign the protocol, transportation representatives have not yet responded. Consequently, services are not expected to resume immediately, with a tentative restart set for Tuesday.
