Nothing company software and product expansion

Nothing has initiated the rollout of Nothing OS 5.0, an operating system based on Android 17. The process began with an open beta program for the Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus, featuring visual updates such as a new system font, redesigned settings, and a dedicated Glyph app.

Following the beta phase, the company started a staggered rollout of the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update to several models, including the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro. The update introduces the Geist typeface, a Translucent theme with a frosted-glass effect, and a three-color status bar indicator to signal when sensitive functions like location services or AI processing are active.

Model-specific features include a new Tuning feature with seven adjustable effects and Dual-view Video for the Phone (3a) and 3a Pro, while the Phone (4a) and 4a Pro receive improved Essential Voice transcription speeds. General improvements across supported devices include enhanced zoom quality, close-up shots, and QR code scanning.

Regarding hardware, Co-Founder and President Akis Evangelidis announced that the company intends to significantly increase its production scale, planning to release more than twice the number of smartphones in 2027 compared to the 2026 lineup.
