Nowon-gu digital administration initiatives

The Nowon-gu district in South Korea is implementing several digital platforms to enhance administrative efficiency and transparency.

In September 2026, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected Nowon-gu as a pilot local government for ‘On-AI’, an intelligent administrative management platform. This initiative builds upon the district’s previous use of ‘NowonGPT’ and aims to establish standards for AI transformation within local governments. The platform is designed to support tasks such as searching laws, data collection, document creation, and the automatic generation of meeting minutes.

In October 2026, the district launched ‘Nowon Reconstruction and Redevelopment NOW ON’, a map-based online platform. This service provides residents with real-time updates on urban renewal projects, including project stages, site locations, and planned scales. According to District Head Seo Jun-oh, the platform aims to increase administrative trust and prevent conflicts caused by information asymmetry by providing transparent access to project progress.
