Nurul Izzah Anwar leave of absence from PKR

Overview

Nurul Izzah Anwar, the Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), requested to resign from her position to pursue further studies. The party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) declined the resignation, opting instead to grant her a temporary leave of absence.

The leave is scheduled to begin following the 2026 PKR National Congress. During this period, Vice President Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will assume her duties. While the duration of the leave remains unspecified, Nurul Izzah is required to complete all tasks related to the upcoming National Congress before her departure.

In her final duties before the leave, Nurul Izzah officiated the PKR Women (Wanita) and Youth (AMK) congresses in Melaka. During her address, she urged party members to remain steadfast in their principles and cautioned against losing the reformist values that defined the party during its time in the opposition.
