Náutico football club performance and coaching changes

Náutico is experiencing instability in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B following a 3-0 defeat against Cuiabá at Arena Pantanal. The loss placed the team in 14th position with 38 points.

In response to the poor performance, the club dismissed coaches Hélio and Guilherme dos Anjos. During their one-year and five-month tenure, the duo led the team to promotion from Série C to Série B and secured positions in the Copa do Brasil and Copa do Nordeste, recording 29 wins, 17 draws, and 20 losses in 66 matches.

President Bruno Becker stated the dismissal was made with “security and conviction” due to the club’s current situation. While the duo held contracts through 2027, a specific clause allows for termination at the end of the current season; consequently, the club will pay salaries through the end of 2026. Fan reactions have largely expressed relief regarding the decision.

Ahead of the upcoming ‘Clássico dos Clássicos’ against Sport, the club also announced a reduction in the visitor sector capacity at the Aflitos stadium. Following technical evaluations with local police and fire departments, the capacity for visiting fans will be lowered from 3,000 to 1,623 to ensure public safety.
