Odemira Art and Science Biennial launch
Overview
The municipality of Odemira is launching the inaugural Biennial of Art and Science (BO), scheduled for October 3 to 5. Curated by Hugo Cruz under the theme ‘Tentemos’, the event is designed to promote cultural and ecological diversity through the intersection of various disciplines. The biennial takes place across multiple locations, including Odemira, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Sabóia, and São Luís.
Mayor Hélder Guerreiro stated the initiative aims to create a space for reflection that connects different generations and communities, positioning the municipality in international dialogue. The program includes workshops, installations, and performances, and features the introduction of the Madalena Victorino International Artistic Creation Grant.
As the event commenced in the Alentejo Litoral region, highlights included the inauguration of the ‘Selva Coragem’ installation by Teatro do Frio and the International Meeting of Programmers and Curators, intended to foster local and international artistic networks. The program is set to conclude with the presentation of ‘Tentemos’, a project co-created with the Odemira community featuring fado singer Gisela João, followed by a community dinner.
