2027 NFL Draft prospect and quarterback updates

Overview

The 2027 NFL Draft landscape continues to evolve, driven by significant shifts in quarterback rankings and rising star performances. Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker has emerged as a premier prospect, gaining substantial momentum. Following a successful tenure at North Texas, Mestemaker has maintained high production in the Big 12. Recent reports from Mel Kiper Jr. and Albert Breer indicate he has risen to the top of scouting boards, being ranked as the second-best overall player on a midseason big board and the first quarterback projected as a top-three pick in certain mock drafts. Through seven games at Oklahoma State, he has recorded 2,326 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, noted for his mobility and deep-ball capability.

While Mestemaker rises, other previously highly-regarded prospects have seen their momentum impacted. Julian Sayin of Ohio State and Dante Moore of Oregon have faced setbacks due to arm injuries and concussions, respectively. Other notable quarterbacks in the class include Notre Dame’s C.J. Carr and Miami’s Darian Mensah, who holds a national-leading 81.4 percent completion rate.

Beyond the quarterback position, offensive linemen continue to see movement in scouting reports. Oregon’s Dave Luli remains a notable riser due to his physicality and agility, while USC offensive tackle Elijah Page has also gained attention. These developments continue to influence roster construction discussions for NFL franchises, such as the Miami Dolphins, who are evaluating whether to utilize high draft picks for a quarterback or trade down.
