OKTAGON MMA European and global expansion

Overview

OKTAGON MMA is undergoing strategic shifts in its European operations and global media presence. Following a difficult and costly expansion into the United Kingdom between 2023 and 2024, co-founder Pavol Neruda stated the organization is not ruling out a future return to the UK. The promotion secured a global broadcast partnership with DAZN to reach over 150 markets, though existing agreements with RTL+ remain in effect in Germany.

On September 26, 2025, the promotion held its Oktagon 94 event at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany, to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. The event drew approximately 58,000 to 60,000 fans, marking one of the largest MMA gatherings in Europe for 2026. Notable results included David Kozma defeating Christian Eckerlin via submission, Max Coga winning the co-main event, and Karlos Vémola securing a second-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Frédéric Vosgröne. Vémola attributed his success to his preparation and training with coaches such as Makhmud Muradov.

The massive turnout at the Frankfurt stadium serves as a counterpoint to UFC CEO Dana White’s preference for enclosed arenas. However, the event faced controversy following reports of a spectator performing a prohibited Nazi salute during the German national anthem. Local police have launched an investigation, and organizers stated they are cooperating with authorities to identify the individual, asserting that “there is no place for extremist behavior” at their promotions. RTL, which broadcast the event to a record 922,000 viewers, noted the incident was not part of the live transmission.

Following the success of the Frankfurt show, OKTAGON MMA announced the ‘Oktagon Infinity’ initiative to host one major stadium event annually, with the first scheduled for May 2027 in Düsseldorf.
