OPPO ColorOS 16 software rollout

Overview

OPPO has continued the rollout of its ColorOS 16 software, expanding its feature set through August and September updates.

The August release reinforced AI-driven tools and security, specifically highlighting the AI Remix Collage tool. This feature uses Smart Cutout technology to extract subjects from photos for creating stickers and mood boards. Security enhancements in the Phone Manager and Security apps now allow for real-time detection and blocking of malicious pop-ups, suspicious activity, and abnormal battery consumption. UI updates included a two-finger pinch-out gesture to clear notification badges, real-time currency converter widgets, and image annotation capabilities within the Notes app. Supported devices included the Find N5, N6, X8, and X9 series, as well as Reno5 and Reno6 models.

In September, the rollout shifted focus toward photo management and document utility. New features in the Photos app allow users to manually edit photo timestamps, hide customized albums, batch-mark favorites, and toggle between Immersive and By Date browsing modes. A new Scan Text feature enables users to extract, copy, and edit text from images, providing tools to rotate, straighten, and remove glare or shadows from documents. Additionally, security updates to the Private Safe now permit the simultaneous selection and storage of multiple files in various formats. This phased rollout targets the Find X9, Find X8, and various Reno series models.
