OSCyL social musical marathon in Castilla y León

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León (OSCyL) launched the thirteenth edition of its Maratón Social Musical, an initiative promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León to provide musical access to individuals facing barriers to traditional cultural venues.

Scheduled to run from October 5 to October 8, 2026, the program involved 14 chamber music groups performing 17 concerts across the region. Performances were held in various social and healthcare facilities, including hospitals, elderly residences, special education schools, and centers for people with intellectual disabilities. The initiative utilized music as a tool for social cohesion and territorial integration through the collaboration of regional departments of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Health and Social Welfare, and Education.

By the conclusion of the week-long event, the orchestra had completed its adapted concert series, which included performances such as a violin and double bass duo at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valladolid and a brass quintet at the Hospital Universitario Santa Bárbara in Soria. The program was supported by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports through the OSCyL Socio-educational Area and the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center.
