Ostrava municipal mobility and safety initiatives
Overview
The city of Ostrava has introduced several municipal initiatives focused on mobility, safety, and digital infrastructure.
In late August 2026, the city announced participation in European Mobility Week under the theme of “Intergenerational Justice,” promoting sustainable transport through walking, cycling, and public transit. Alongside these efforts, the Municipal Police Ostrava launched the “Ostrava – Senior Messenger of Prevention – 2026” project and the SeniorOVA Academy to protect elderly residents from fraud and improve road security.
By early September 2026, the city expanded its digital services with the launch of ostravaparkovani.cz. This new portal, managed by Ostravské komunikace, centralizes parking information, including real-time occupancy data, maps, and pricing. Deputy Mayor Břetislav Rieger stated the portal is intended to serve as a “single point of reference for all parking options in the city.”
