Pakistan diplomatic outreach on Gaza and Jerusalem

In late July 2026 Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held telephone talks with Egypt’s and Jordan’s foreign ministers, coordinating an Arab‑Islamic response to the Gaza war, condemning Israeli actions in Gaza, the West Bank and at Al‑Aqsa, and urging an emergency Arab‑Islamic meeting to reaffirm a two‑state solution based on the 1967 borders.

A week later Dar travelled to Amman for a Jordan‑convened ministerial meeting on Jerusalem, joining foreign ministers from the Arab League and a group of Islamic states to craft a common position on the deteriorating situation in occupied East Jerusalem. He reiterated Pakistan’s backing of the Palestinian people, called for an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, condemned further Israeli incursions at Al‑Aqsa, and held bilateral talks with King Abdullah II.

In early August, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led a high‑level delegation, including Dar, on a three‑day visit to Saudi Arabia. In Riyadh he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, regional security, the US‑Iran standoff and the Strait of Hormuz. The trip underscored Pakistan’s long‑standing partnership with Saudi Arabia and its role in multilateral initiatives such as the Multinational Maritime Defence Coalition. The visit also highlighted the continuation of Dar’s diplomatic push on the Palestinian cause, linking the Jerusalem ministerial meeting with broader de‑escalation efforts and freedom‑of‑navigation concerns in the region.
