Pakistan interior ministry security and service reforms

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has initiated several measures to improve immigration services and combat criminal activity in Pakistan.

Following inspections at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Naqvi addressed passenger delays by ordering all immigration counters to remain open. To further reduce wait times, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has expanded the number of immigration lines from approximately eight to 20. Naqvi also directed the FIA to dismantle human smuggling and ‘hawala hindi’ networks by targeting their entire operational chains.

Administrative reforms have also targeted staff negligence. During a visit to the Gujranwala Regional Passport Office, Naqvi discovered the facility had closed before scheduled hours with staff absent, leading him to order the immediate removal of the entire office staff. To improve citizen convenience, he announced that passport services would be integrated into the NADRA Mega Center in Gujranwala.

To modernize security and service delivery, Naqvi approved the replacement of outdated airport cameras with advanced technology and the use of the Pak ID app for lodging complaints.
