Pakistan MDCAT 2026 examination and results

Overview

The 2026 Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) was conducted across Pakistan on September 20, with more than 138,000 candidates participating nationwide. The examination, organized under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, included centers in various cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Sukkur, as well as a center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the examination period, candidates in Karachi reported difficulties due to extreme heat and poor road conditions. While social media rumors suggested paper leaks, authorities dismissed these claims as fake. Following the examination, the SIBA Testing Service released the final results for the Sindh region. To qualify for medical college, students required a minimum score of 55 percent, while dental colleges required 50 percent. The highest score recorded was 179 out of 180, achieved by a female candidate from Shikarpur.

In response to complaints regarding transparency and accuracy, the Senate Standing Committee on National Health has ordered an investigation into the MDCAT 2026 process and results in Sindh. Chairman Amir Chishti stated that the exam may be re-conducted in the province if the inquiry proves negligence or irregularities. The Ministry of Health has been directed to form an independent inquiry committee to review examination centers and result compilation, with a four-member professional team dispatched from Islamabad to Sukkur to begin the probe.

Concurrently, the Sindh High Court is reviewing a petition alleging errors in released answer keys and restrictions on candidates taking question papers from centers. While the court declined to halt the preparation of the merit list, it noted that the list could be adjusted if petitioners are granted relief. The court has sought responses from relevant parties by November 10.
