Palazzo Ducale art exhibitions and programming
Overview
The Fondazione Palazzo Ducale in Genoa has announced a major art exhibition titled ‘Renoir, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne – 200 anni di Arte dalla Collezione Scharf’. Scheduled to run from October 16, 2026, to May 2, 2027, the exhibition will feature over 140 masterpieces from the Scharf Collection, a significant German private collection. This marks the first time many of these works will be displayed in Italy.
The Scharf Collection encompasses various movements, including Realism, Impressionism, Cubism, and contemporary art, with roots in the Berlin collection of Otto Gerstenberg.
In addition to the Scharf Collection, the Palazzo Ducale is introducing cultural programming related to the ‘World Press Photo 2026’ exhibition. These educational initiatives include a ‘World Fake Photo’ workshop to assist students in distinguishing real reportage from AI-generated imagery, and a ‘Rights Out of Frame’ program exploring themes of childhood and education rights.
