Pamplona Privilegio de la Unión commemorations
Overview
To commemorate the 603rd anniversary of the Privilegio de la Unión, the Pamplona City Council organized a series of free guided tours of the Casa Consistorial between September 3 and September 11.
The historical document, signed by Carlos III the Noble in 1423, is recognized as the founding act of the modern city because it unified the previously separate population centers of San Cernin, San Nicolás, and Navarrería. The City Hall was positioned equidistant to these three areas to symbolize this unification.
The tours, offered in both Spanish and Basque, included access to historical documents in the Municipal Archive. Mayor Joseba Asiron Saez led the initial sessions. Additionally, a polychrome resin replica of Pamplona’s historic coat of arms was installed at the municipal entrance as part of the commemorations.
