Following the shooting death of 22-year-old Deisy Paola Giménez Segovia in Lambaré, authorities arrested Aldo Alexis Duarte Moreira, her suspected killer. A judge has since ordered preventive detention for Duarte Moreira, who will be held at the Centro Nacional de Prevenidos while the investigation continues through the San Lorenzo Permanent Attention Court. Investigators have seized a mobile phone and other items to assist in the probe. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as two gunshot wounds to the skull that affected the brain tissue and brainstem.

The case has prompted the Defensoría del Pueblo to call for an investigation into potential failures or omissions by authorities, noting that Giménez had previously filed reports of violence and was under a judicial restraining order at the time of her death. The Defensoría has specifically called for an exhaustive investigation into whether existing protection mechanisms were effectively applied and supervised. The murder has triggered protests in Asunción, organized by groups such as Articulación Feminista del Paraguay - 25NPy, to demand justice and criticize systemic machismo.
