Paraná coffee industry development and competitions

Overview

The coffee industry in Paraná, Brazil, is experiencing growth through regional certifications and quality competitions. In Mandaguari, coffee beans have secured geographical indication certification for 2025, supporting the rise of specialty coffee production.

To further promote local specialty coffees, the 24th Café Qualidade Paraná contest is being held. Organized by the Paraná Coffee Sector Chamber, the competition allows producers to enter categories for Natural Coffee and Peeled or Depulped Cherry Coffee. Registration is free for those with proven coffee activities in the state.

In addition to the contest, a 2nd Business Round has been established to facilitate market connections. This initiative allows selected producers to engage in cupping sessions with potential buyers to negotiate price, volume, and delivery terms. Winners of the competition are scheduled to be announced on November 17 at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba.
