Parti Québécois candidate for Duplessis riding
Overview
In early July 2026, Meggie Richard was announced as the Parti Québécois (PQ) candidate for the Duplessis electoral district in Quebec. Later that month, Elections Québec officially confirmed her nomination. Richard, a former prefect of the Minganie regional county municipality and president of the Assembly of MRCs of the Côte‑Nord, said she would represent the Côte‑Nord region’s interests in the provincial legislature. The Duplessis race will pit her against incumbent CAQ minister Kateri Champagne Jourdain, Conservative nominee Roberto Stéa, and Québec solidaire candidate Jani Bellefleur‑Kaltush; the Liberal Party has not yet named a candidate.
