Patient care initiatives at Varese ASST Sette Laghi

Overview

The ASST Sette Laghi hospital in Varese has implemented several initiatives aimed at improving the patient experience and humanizing medical care through donations and environmental design.

In late September, the Audiovestibology department introduced an animal-themed forest at the hospital entrance. Funded by a 25,000 euro donation from the Il Ponte del Sorriso Foundation, the installation uses visual elements like animals with large ears to create a welcoming environment for pediatric patients with hearing impairments.

By late October, the Oncology Day Hospital received further contributions to support patient well-being. These included a medical instrument for measuring vital signs donated by a patient, and a bell provided by the association ‘Varese per l’Oncologia’. The bell is intended for patients to ring to celebrate the successful conclusion of their treatments, a tradition described by Nicoletta Ferloni as a way of “humanizing care” and strengthening the bond between staff and patients.
