Peru police captures suspects in violent crimes
Entities: Ministry of the Interior (Peru) · San Martín region · Luis Alberto Llatas Constantino · Awajún district · National Police of Peru
Overview
In mid‑July, Peruvian authorities in the Piura region apprehended 19‑year‑old Fabricio Fiestas Susanival, accused of killing municipal mayor Victor Hugo Febre and injuring a driver. The operation followed intelligence work after Fiestas fled to Chile and returned to Talara, and he was transferred through several police stations for investigation.
A few weeks later, in early August, the National Police captured an alleged attacker responsible for an armed assault in the Awajún district of San Martín. The raid seized a shotgun and the fallen officer’s weapon, while the injured sub‑officer was air‑lifted to Lima for emergency surgery. Both incidents illustrate a continued police focus on rapidly responding to and neutralising violent threats across different Peruvian regions.
