Phantom of the Opera 40th anniversary celebrations

Overview

To mark the 40th anniversary of the West End musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is releasing a new version of the original 1986 cast recording titled ‘The Andrew Lloyd Webber 2026 Mix’. This release utilizes original analog master tapes to provide enhanced clarity and includes previously unreleased sections and rare archival material, such as the ‘Andrew’s Phantom Demo’. The album is scheduled for release on streaming, CD, and vinyl formats in November 2026.

In addition to the new mix, a partnership between Universal Pictures Content Group, LW Entertainment, and Cameron Mackintosh has been announced to produce a live cinematic recording of the musical. Directed by Brett Sullivan, the film will capture a special gala performance at His Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 2026, featuring an international anniversary cast. This cinematic production is slated for release in 2027.
