Overview
Philippine social insurance agencies have implemented various financial assistance and benefit programs throughout 2026.
In August, the Social Security System (SSS) established a deadline for members to update disbursement accounts to ensure the successful crediting of P2,000 Uplift aid. Concurrently, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed over P12.3 million in aid to thousands of repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by crises in the Middle East.
By late 2026, reports indicated massive benefit payouts across the sector. The SSS reported paying out P205.56 billion in benefits between January and July, primarily for retirement and death benefits. Additionally, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) returned over P19 billion to more than 700,000 members through its Balik Ginhawa programs, aimed at providing financial relief to government workers via loan payment refunds.
