Pinergy electricity price increases in Ireland

Overview

Electricity supplier Pinergy announced a price increase for approximately 28,000 Irish residential households, effective September 14. The company stated that the unit rate for electricity will increase by just under 10%, which is expected to raise the typical annual bill by about €169.

CEO Enda Gunnell attributed the decision to “prolonged volatility and elevated pricing in wholesale energy markets,” noting that the company can no longer absorb the scale and duration of these fluctuations. Analysts have linked the price hike to renewed conflict in the Middle East driving up wholesale costs. This follows a previous unit rate increase implemented in October 2025.
