Piraeus Port Authority investment and logistics expansion
Overview
The Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) has announced the establishment of a new, wholly-owned logistics subsidiary, ‘PYLI EFOÐIASTIKH ALYSIAS PEIRAIAS MONOPROSOPI A.E.’. This entity is intended to provide integrated logistics, transport, and port-related services, including warehouse operations, real estate management, and business project implementation across various sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology.
Following this decision, OLP executives met with the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEP) to discuss the implications of expanded investment roles. While the Chamber expressed support for new productive investments to bolster the local economy, it cautioned against “uncontrolled vertical integration” that might restrict Greek enterprises. OLP leadership clarified that the new subsidiary aims to attract foreign investment capital and noted that a mandatory investment program for port upgrades is currently underway, with a scheduled completion date in November 2028.
