Planned power outages and energy management in Poland

Energa Operator has announced planned power outages across several regions in Poland, citing network modernization, transformer station maintenance, and the connection of new customers. Previous disruptions were scheduled for the Tricity area, including Gdańsk, Gdynia, Kosakowo, and Rumia, as well as the Wielkopolska region, affecting areas such as Jarocin, Krotoszyn, and Pleszew. Newer schedules from Energa Operator include an eight-hour power loss in Straszyn on August 27. Additionally, maintenance-related outages are planned for several towns in the Mazowieckie region, including Gąbin, Gostynin, Osiny, Sokołów, Józefków, and Kiernozia. Further interruptions have been announced by both Enea Operator and Energa Operator for the period between September 7 and September 15, 2026. These will affect the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and Gostyń County, specifically impacting the municipalities of Gostyń, Pępowo, Pogorzela, and Borek Wielkopolski. Specific locations such as Kunowo, Pępowo, Taczanówko, and Celestynów are scheduled for outages during this timeframe. As of early September 2026, Enea Operator and Energa Operator continue to announce planned outages in the Wielkopolska and Mazowieckie regions, including Gostyń, Pępowo, and Gąbin, to improve grid reliability. Furthermore, PGE Dystrybucja has scheduled outages in the Łódź Voivodeship for network modernization. Other ongoing maintenance includes work in Łaziska Górne, with outages expected on August 18 and 19, 2026, affecting streets such as Ligonia, Pogodna, Spacerowa, Poziomkowa, and Świętego Jana, as well as planned maintenance in Inowrocław. On a national scale, hydro-power plants are being utilized to stabilize the power system, with companies including PGE Energia Odnawialna and TAURON Ekoenergia increasing water discharges from reservoirs such as Nysa, Otmuchów, and Turawa. In early September 2026, the Polish Sejm passed legislation to amend renewable energy source (RES) regulations. This includes an auction-based support system for biomethane production facilities with an installed electrical capacity exceeding 1 MW, managed by the Energy Regulatory Office.
