Poland online gambling market growth

Overview

The online gambling and sports betting market in Poland is experiencing rapid expansion and a decisive shift toward digital platforms. By 2025, the legal betting market reached a turnover of 18.76 billion PLN, marking a 14.19% increase from the previous year. This growth is heavily concentrated in the digital space, with the online sector now accounting for 93.5% of the total market.

Market leadership is divided between physical and digital strengths. STS remains the overall market leader with a turnover of 5.21 billion PLN, though its market share decreased from 31.86% to 27.74%. STS maintains its position largely through an extensive physical retail network, which generated 695.27 million PLN. In contrast, the online-only segment is led by Betclic, which captured 26.6% of the internet market with a turnover of 4.66 billion PLN. Superbet also saw growth, with its market share rising from 17.93% to 19.74%.

To combat the persistence of illegal operators, Poland is intensifying enforcement measures targeting financial infrastructure. Starting September 1, 2026, the domestic payment system BLIK is expected to block all transactions linked to gambling domains listed on the Polish Ministry of Finance’s official register of illegal websites. This strategy aims to disrupt the financial viability of illegal operators by targeting payment infrastructure rather than just blocking websites. While illegal operators often bypass domain blocks by using mirror sites, integrating major domestic payment systems with the government's blacklist is intended to create a more systematic enforcement model. Under the existing Gambling Act, payment providers that fail to comply with these restrictions can face financial penalties of up to PLN 250,000.
