Poland TV market changes

In mid‑July 2026, Poland announced updates to its television licensing system, requiring households to pay a monthly radio‑television fee of 30.50 zł (or 9.50 zł for radio‑only) and mandating deregistration of unused or sold receivers through a postal portal. Exemptions were confirmed for seniors, low‑income pensioners and disabled veterans, while non‑compliance could incur penalties of up to 915 zł per month. At the same time, Netflix raised its subscription prices in Poland, offering three tiers ranging from 37 zł to 75 zł per month, with extra charges for additional household users.

A fortnight later, data from Nielsen showed a continued decline in Poland’s digital terrestrial TV (DTT) audience, falling to about 3.35 million households—a loss of roughly 300,000 from the previous year and down from over 5 million in 2021. Conversely, cable TV subscriptions grew to around 10.3 million households, indicating a shift in how viewers access video content. The regulator UKE noted that DTT’s future hinges on spectrum allocation decisions pending the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC‑31) and potential repurposing of the 600 MHz band for mobile services, but no automatic termination of DTT is planned.
