Poland‑Galvion defense manufacturing expansion

In June 2025, Canadian defence firm Galvion opened a ballistic‑helmet production plant in Gdańsk, Poland. The facility, attended by Canadian Ambassador Catherine Godin, employed over 100 staff and within its first year shipped more than 90,000 helmets to NATO allies, reaching an annual capacity of 100,000 helmets.

By late July 2026 the plant celebrated its one‑year anniversary, highlighting its role in bolstering NATO supply‑chain resilience and aiming for close to 2 million helmets in service across allied forces by the end of 2026.

A few days later, reporting in early August 2026 noted that Poland was extending its defence‑industrial base with the construction of a rocket‑missile factory in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The project, a Hanwha WB Advanced Systems consortium linking Poland’s WB Electronics and South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace, will produce CGR‑080 missiles for the Homar‑K artillery system, with first deliveries expected from 2028 onward. This marks Poland’s first domestic production of rocket missiles and adds roughly 150 jobs, underscoring a broader push to expand indigenous defence manufacturing alongside the successful helmet hub.
