Police criminal investigations in Rome

Police operations in Rome have addressed various criminal activities, ranging from local street crimes to organized home robberies.

In the Esquilino district, authorities arrested a 31-year-old man for attempted robbery and assault following a shop theft. During the same period, police conducted surveillance in the area to combat urban decay and food safety violations, resulting in the seizure of 80 kilograms of altered food products from a minimarket.

Investigations into violent home robberies in the Monti district have led to the arrest of four individuals, including residents of Rome and individuals of Bosnian and Albanian origin. The suspects are accused of breaking into a residence, binding victims with zip ties and tape, and threatening them with physical mutilation—specifically threatening to “cut off their fingers”—to steal approximately 100,000 euros worth of jewelry and electronics. One suspect has been identified as the facilitator who provided logistical information for the crime.

Additionally, a 35-year-old man was arrested and sent to Regina Coeli prison following an arson attack in the Fleming district. Authorities state the man allegedly removed his electronic monitoring bracelet to set fire to a laundry business and the apartment above it. Investigators noted the act followed a pattern of harassment and violence against his former partner, who was under a court-ordered no-contact mandate.
