In Carinthia, Austria, new details have emerged regarding the fatal hit-and-run in Globasnitz on August 9. Police identified a local pensioner from the Völkermarkt district as the suspect in connection with the death of a 20-year-old pedestrian on the B81 road. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM following a local fire department festival.

While the suspect initially denied involvement, investigators from the State Criminal Police Office discovered human tissue on the undercarriage of a volunteer fire department Mercedes Sprinter ‘with a very high degree of certainty.’ The suspect has since confessed to running over a ‘motionless human body’ lying in the road, stating he fled the scene in shock before returning to help secure the site.

Authorities are continuing to investigate whether the suspect’s vehicle was the primary cause of death or if a second vehicle was involved in the collision.

In Schweinfurt, police are seeking help to identify a man found in the Main River. Additionally, in Vienna, authorities are examining the death of a 46-year-old man found in an apartment following reports of a loud argument, though forensic evidence has not yet confirmed foul play.
