Police operations against prostitution rings in Senegal

Overview

Law enforcement authorities in Senegal have conducted several operations to dismantle prostitution rings and clandestine sexual networks.

In September 2026, police in the Grand Yoff district of Dakar raided a beverage establishment that operated a two-level prostitution ring. Investigators found that managers charged customers for one-hour sessions while paying significantly less to the women involved. Authorities seized illicit earnings and noted that many of the women were foreign nationals residing in the country illegally. Ten individuals were taken into custody.

In the Tambacounda region, police operations intensified following a May 2026 investigation by the gendarmerie that resulted in 21 arrests. A subsequent operation by the central police station, aided by undercover work and confessions from previously detained individuals, led to the apprehension of 24 additional suspects.
