Police operations in Madhya Pradesh

Overview

Police in Madhya Pradesh have conducted separate operations involving the seizure of illegal items and large sums of cash.

In Sagar, authorities seized approximately 3 crore rupees in cash during a raid on the residence of a school bus driver. The raid was prompted by an investigation into social media posts featuring a handgun. While no firearm was found, the significant amount of currency required a counting machine at the scene. The suspect’s family claimed the money belonged to a relative from Bhopal who had left it there months prior. Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania stated that officials are investigating the source of the funds.

In Indore, police arrested an alleged arms smuggler, Mithilesh Lashkari, after intercepting him on a motorcycle. Officers recovered three country-made pistols, one revolver, and four live cartridges. The suspect claimed the weapons were brought from the Dhar district. He is currently facing charges under the Arms Act as police investigate the intended destination of the firearms.
