Polish agricultural imports and logistics trends

Overview

During the first half of 2026, Poland experienced significant shifts in its agricultural import markets and logistics.

Cucumber and gherkin imports totaled 48,870 tons, valued at 343.26 million PLN. While Spain was the leading supplier for the first half of the year, providing nearly one-quarter of all imports, market dynamics changed in June when Romanian supplies increased to 3,620 tons, while Spanish deliveries fell to 195 tons.

In the same period, cabbage import costs surged. Poland spent 84.18 million PLN on cabbage imports between January and June, a figure that nearly matched the total expenditure for the entire year of 2025. North Macedonia served as the primary supplier, providing over 12,000 tons.

Concurrently, Polish rail freight reached yearly highs in July 2026, with cargo mass hitting 19.5 million tons, a 3.8% increase compared to July 2025.
