Polish anti‑corruption investigations

Polish anti‑corruption authorities continue probing two high‑profile cases.

The EU‑grant fraud investigation remains focused on Łukasz P., husband of TV personality Sylwia Peretti, who was detained on suspicion of misappropriating over €7.5 million in EU funds and placed in pre‑trial detention for up to three months. Their property sale stays under a temporary restriction.

In the PFN‑related case, on 14 July 2026 the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) arrested former KRRiT chairman Maciej Świrski and former PFN board member Cezary Jurkiewicz at the request of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów. They were taken to Rzeszów, issued travel bans, had their passports confiscated and were later released to house arrest. CBA also searched the homes of advisors Piotr Matczuk and Anna Plakwicz, seizing computers and phones. Prosecutors allege abuse of authority and a loss of at least PLN 8.4 million linked to the “Sprawiedliwe sądy” media campaign, described by Minister Tomasz Siemoniak as a political order. Ministers Tomasz Siemoniak and Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz stress the need to protect public assets.

Sylwia Peretti continues to contest media coverage on social platforms while both investigations proceed.
