Polish municipal wealth rankings

In late July 2026 the bi‑weekly magazine Wspólnota released its municipal wealth ranking for Poland. Opole was placed second, a result the city’s mayor linked to strong public investment and more than 1.3 billion zł in EU grants. At the same time, South‑Korean tyre maker Kumho Tire announced a 2.2 billion zł plant in Opole, projected to create up to 500 jobs.

A few days later the ranking highlighted further gains in other cities. Ostrołęka entered the top three, reflecting a rising fiscal base despite historically low investment spending. Konin climbed to sixth place, reporting a per‑capita wealth of 10 585.90 zł and sizable budget surpluses. Both cities emphasized new infrastructure projects: Ostrołęka’s green‑infrastructure upgrades and Konin’s hydrogen‑bus fleet, plans for a second nuclear power plant, a large data‑center, and other modernisation efforts.

Together the snapshots show a broader trend of Polish municipalities improving their fiscal positions and attracting significant private and public investment, reinforcing their roles as regional economic hubs.
