Polish newspaper and weekly circulation trends

Overview

The Polish press market experienced a general decline in circulation during the first half of 2026. Major daily newspapers saw significant drops in sales, including a 15.2% decrease for ‘Fakt’, a 13.7% fall for ‘Super Express’, and a 17.9% decline for ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’. Business-oriented titles were particularly affected, with ‘Puls Biznesu’ losing 44.2% of its circulation. The sports newspaper ‘Przegląd Sportowy’ was a notable exception, seeing an 8.7% increase attributed to interest in the football World Cup.

Within the weekly magazine segment, trends were mixed. While ‘Tygodnik Powszechny’ recorded a notable 13% increase in sales, reaching an average of 22,988 copies, other major titles saw declines. Segment leader ‘Polityka’ experienced a 7.4% drop to 67,634 copies. Other weekly publications also reported falling numbers: ‘Newsweek Polska’ fell by 2%, ‘Do Rzeczy’ dropped by 19%, ‘Sieci’ decreased by 20.6%, and ‘Gazety Polskiej’ saw a 30.3% reduction.

‘Tygodnik Powszechny’ has emerged as a rare growing title in a market where nine other titles in the Polish Reading Research (PBC) ranking saw a combined sales decline of 9.83%. This growth is primarily driven by a 69.7% surge in e-edition sales, which rose from 5,186 to 8,799 copies. Although print sales for the title decreased by 6.4%, the digital expansion resulted in a total sales increase of 2,642 copies. Digital editions now account for over 38% of the publication’s total sales, up from less than 26% the previous year.
