Polish retailers expanding deposit system return services
Overview
Retailers in Poland are introducing new methods to facilitate the return of packaging within deposit systems to increase consumer convenience.
Online supermarket Delio, part of the Żabka Group, launched a service allowing customers to hand over up to four bags of packaging to couriers during grocery deliveries in cities including Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and the Upper Silesian Metropolis. Customers can receive funds via bank transfer or donate them to the Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę.
Carrefour Poland has implemented options for customers to redeem deposit vouchers at traditional checkouts for cash or purchase discounts. The retailer also integrated self-service checkouts to allow deposit usage for bill reduction and expanded its acceptance to include returnable glass bottles from private manufacturer systems, CO2 cylinders, gas cylinders, and certain car batteries.
