Polish sports season preparations

In late July 2026, Polish sport administrators highlighted preparations for the upcoming season across multiple disciplines. The Ekstraklasa, Poland’s top football league, marked its centenary with a promotional campaign and announced extensive club overhauls, new kits and a media partnership to drive fan engagement for the 2026/27 campaign. Shortly thereafter, the WOZKosz youth basketball association introduced a revised league structure for U12‑U19 teams, including a new top‑tier Ekstraklasa Mazowsza and a secondary II Liga, alongside a detailed seasonal calendar emphasizing squad rotation and injury prevention.

On 22 July, WOZKosz released the full regulations for the new structure, outlining a 400‑zł per‑stage qualification fee, direct promotion for the six best clubs and a final‑stage qualifier for the remaining spots, while keeping the squad composition open to any number of foreign players. The association also published a week‑by‑week season calendar stressing rotation, training‑load management and injury‑prevention guidelines for youth teams.

A day later the second‑tier Polish I Liga opened its 2026/27 campaign. Fixtures announced for 25 July saw Pogoń Siedlce host newly promoted ŁKS Łódź, while Stal Mielec began against Unia Skierniewice after a summer of managerial and roster changes. A published league table highlighted promotion contenders such as Arka Gdynia and Lechia Gdańsk and detailed the playoff and relegation zones for the season ending in May 2027.

On 28 July, the Polish Football Association launched PZPN+, a new digital platform to stream live matches from the PKO Ekstraklasa, lower‑division leagues and the women’s Orlen Ekstraliga, which begins on 31 July. Backed by a 10 million‑zł investment, the service includes a dedicated VAR centre to support refereeing. Early season results—Legia Warszawa 1‑0 Pogon Szczecin, Miedź Legnica 2‑0 Piast Gliwice, and Wisła Kraków 2‑1 GKS Katowice—were among the first matches available on the platform.
